Are you curious about how tall you really are, or do you have questions about someone else’s height? With your new iPhone, it’s easy to find out. OMT editor Jeroen Kraak tells you exactly how.
Size doesn’t matter? Sometimes yes, but then of course you have to know the right length. You no longer have to fumble with a measuring rod or tape. Your iPhone is sufficient to measure your height. That way you will never be wrong again.
Measure length with your iPhone
To use the function you must have an iPhone with a LiDAR scanner. That means that the iPhone 12, 13 or 14 Pro (Max) are suitable. You can measure lengths with the To measure app already installed on your device by Apple.
Did you survive the checklist? Now we can talk about measuring the height with the iPhone. For this you open the To measure app. Then point your phone at the person whose height you want to know. It is important for this that you can see the person on your screen from head to toe, otherwise the app cannot do its job.
If all that is successful, at some point you will see a line appear that goes from head to toe. You can choose whether you want to see the length in inches or centimeters. To do this, go to on your iPhone Settings and then the To measure app. Choose between them Imperial of Metric.
Stand or sit
The great thing is that the To measureapp on your iPhone does not only measure your height when you are standing, but it is also no problem while sitting. That may seem useless, but it certainly isn’t. This way you can optimally measure the height of your desk or office chair, so that you sit straight. That’s good for your back.
To measure the length exactly on the iPhone, use the button at the bottom right of the To measureapp appears. This way you have the size exactly at hand and that is very handy.
iPhone apps want to know everything about you, but it’s easy to stop that
